No CommentsLately I’ve been getting a lot of queries on the latest HCA bid round. Questions range from “how do we bid for the HCA money for our scheme?”, to “how much will we get?” to, “are we eligible?”.
My own view is you need to get the basics correct before you do anything so I prepared a quick checklist of things that needs to be in place before any bidding is put in place.

Time and time again I get asked this question.
“Randip, I’ve worked in housing for “X” years. I’ve worked as a housing manager, I’ve done inspections, but I want to be a RICS qualified Chartered Surveyor. Can I be a Chartered Surveyor?”

Yes it’s that time of year – Compliance Audit, and I’m being inundated with phone calls. If you have received a letter from the HCA about attending a training event with your auditor, then you have been selected for a Compliance Audit. As many of you know I worked for the HCA and helped develop many of the HCA processes. In my article I hope to address common queries that I get on Compliance Audit.

Many of you have are probably aware of the guidance that the HCA have with regards to Housing for Vulnerable and Older people.
The guidance is pretty clear on what you need to do in terms of bidding but many providers still get confused on the standards and quality that these schemes are supposed to achieve.
I’ve picked out several areas that providers need to be aware of when designing these types of accommodation.
